Diana
Diana, Princess of Wales

This exhibition combines iconographic images taken by the world renowned photographer, Mario Testino in 1997 and a display of nine evening dresses worn by Diana, Princess of Wales.
Mario Testino’s images taken for Vanity Fair magazine turned out to be the last official portrait photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales. The images accompanied an article published to coincide with the famous auction of 79 of the Princess dresses for charity in New York in July 1997.
Nine of the gowns sold at the auction, including dresses worn for the photo-shoot, are united with Mario Testino’s photographs for the first time in this unique exhibition.
Among them are four evening dresses by Catherine Walker from the early 1990s including a black halterneck dress with beautiful embroidery in black bugle beads, worn at the Palace of Versailles in 1994. For a limited period (until May 2006) visitors will also be able to see a stunning one-sleeved dress by the Japanese designer Hachi worn by the Princess for the first time in Australia in 1985.
These will be joined with further dresses by Catherine Walker and Bruce Oldfield and the famous dark blue velvet dress by Victor Edelstein, worn to dinner at the White House in 1985 when the Princess delighted guests by taking to the dance floor with John Travolta.

Beautiful Minds
Captures the spirit of Nobel achievement
Taking its title form the film A Beautiful Mind, the 2001 hit movie starring Russell Crowe about the life of Nobel Laureate John Nash, the British Library’s exhibition Beautiful Minds is designed to capture the spirit of Nobel achievement.
Alfred Nobel, the sponsor of the eponymous Prize, was both a creative genius and an idealist. A prolific inventor with more than 300 patents to his name (including dynamite!), he left an enduring legacy in 1896 when he established a fund that would award prizes annually in five fields: physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace. A sixth field, economic science, was added in 1969.
Beautiful Minds presents 30 Nobel Prize laureates, including Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Francis Crick and James Watson, Alexander Fleming, Marie Curie and Samuel Beckett.
Come and Explore the winners’ professional stories through film, newsprint, sound recordings and interactive displays. Find out about the nature of their remarkable achievements, and what motivated them. The exhibition will celebrate not only individual achievement, but also the ‘milieux’ in which such endeavours were realised in places such as Paris, Vienna, Cambridge and Tokyo.

ذهنهای زیبا
از فروشگاه کتاب و هدیه کتابخونه بیرون میآم٬ وارد فضای نمایشگاه میشم٬ سمت راستم چارتصویر تمام قد میبینم از چهار برنده جایزه نوبل.
سمت چپم شش تا ستون شیشهای میبینم که وسطش مانیتوری هست که تصاویری مختلف از آدمهایی توش عوض میشه...
جلوتر که میرم یه دفعه صدای چرخ دندههای دستگاه عجیبی رو میشنوم که منو یاد کارتون پروفسور بالتازار میاندازه.
استوانهای است که از بالای اون عکسهایی مثل پرده آویزونند و یکی یکی به آرومی روی یک ریل جلو میان ... میایستم به تصاویر روی پرده نگاه میکنم که میان و میرن ... یه دفعه تصویری آشنا میبینم! ویسواوا شیمبورسکاست! و یاد ایونا میافتم که او اولین با مرا با او آشنا کرده بود و بعدها گزیده اشعار او را از لهستانی به فارسی برگردانده بود.
توی این افکار هستم که متوجه میشم توی این فاصله ده تا تصویر دیگه هم با اون صدای قِر و قِر خاص این دستگاه عجیب٬ گذشته. یاد گذر عمر میافتم ... خیلی از این آدما که تصاویرشون اینجا آویزونه الآن کجا هستند؟!
وسط این فضای استوانه ای٬ یک میزهست که روش با ظرافت تمام وسایلی چیده شده و وسط این میز یک مکعبه٬ که روی هر وجهش یک فیلم در حال نمایشه... چهره دالایی لامای معروف چهرهای آشناست که در حال جایزه گرفتنه. هنوز مبهوت این اختراع بالتازاری هستم. که توضیح کنار استوانه رو میخونم. در مورد عناصر چهار وجهی میز یک توضیحی نوشته: اینکه چهار٬ نماد چهار جایزه نوبلی است که توی سوئد داده میشه: فیزیک٬ شیمی٬ طب و ادبیات. چهار سمبل چهار فصل طبیعت٬ چهار رنگ اصلی و چهارتا شکل اصلی هندسیه.
به این فکر میکنم که نمایشگاههای قبلی اینجا اینقدر جذبم نکرده بود٬ گرچه انتخاب موضوعاتشون برام همیشه نمادی از خلاقیت بود.
کمی اونطرف تر که نگاه میکنم٬ عکسهایی از آلفرد نوبل رو میبینم ٬دست خطش٬ وسایل شخصیش و داستان اینکه چرا در نوجوانی با خانواده از سوئد به سن پترزبوگ رفتند.....
اطراف این سالن وسایلی توی ویترین با ظرافت خاصی چیده شده٬ از یک جفت کفش زنونه بگیر تا ویلچیر و لباس و مدل مولکولی. که هر کدومش مربوط به یکی از برنده های نوبله.
دوباره بر میگردم به استوانه دوّار خودمون. یک آقای انگلیسی اونجا ایستاده٬ ازش میپرسم که به این وسیله به انگلیسی چی میگن؟
و او توضیح میده که به این میگن کروسل و اون تصاویر هم تصاویر ٧٥٨ نفريه که جايزه نوبل گرفتن که البته ٣٣ تا از اونا خانم بودن. و منو به طرف کامپیوترهایی هدایت میکنه که به وب سایت نوبل پرايز دات ارگ وصلند و تو هر چی میخوای درباره جایزه نوبل بدونی٬ میتونی اونجا پیدا کنی. بر اساس رشته٬ سال٬ نام گیرنده جایزه تنظیم شده. توی سال ٢٠٠٣ میگردم اسم شیرین عبادی رو پیدا میکنم: برنده نوبل صلح.
یک جمله روی دیوار میبینم از پیکاسو: "من نمیجويم بلکه میيابم".
درحالیکه احساس میکنم مغزم زیادی ا.ت. پ مصرف کرده میام بیرون٬ فکر میکنم علتش صبحونه نخوردنه... حسابی گرسنهام طبق معمول. میرم توی رستوران کتابخونه میشینم و غذایی انتخاب میکنم که شبیه پوره سیب زمینیه و بعضی شبا که حال شام درست کردن ندارم اینو درست میکنم ولی خوب اینجا با یک شکل و شمایل بهتر از اون چیزی که من میپزم عرضه میشه.
و به این فکر میکنم که اینجا چه جوری اقتصاد و تکنولوژی و فرهنگ رو با هم پیوند میدن؟!
فضای زندهای که کتابخونه بریتانیا داره آدمو جذب میکنه که به بهانهای بیاد اینجا و یا همتای اون٬ موزه بریتانیا که تازه بعد از ساعت بازدید مردم٬ تا ١٠ شب کلاسهای شبونه داره و گهگاه گردهماییهای خاص شبانه و اگه دستشون میرسید احتمالا ١٠ شب به بعد رو هم از اون فضا استفاده میکردن...
و ديگه اينکه شنبه خوبی داشتم : )

نمایشگاه عکسی ازکارهای برایان هریس و بنوآ اودورو از ١٥فوریه تا اول آوریل ٢٠٠٦ توی همین قایق برقراره . کارهای این دو تا عکاس لحظاتی گذرا رو که بیشتر تغییرات زندگی ما در اون رخ میده رو به تصویر می کشن ...
که اگر عکسها نتونه نظر شما رو جلب کنه محیط جالب کشتی قرن نوزدهمی فضايی برای حس کردن داره.
